Ann Heiligman Salslav

ANN HEILIGMAN SASLAV began piano lessons at age three in Overton, Texas.  She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Curtis Institute of Music and the Master of Music degree from the School of Music of Indiana University.  After touring the United States as pianist of the Nova Arte Trio with violinist Arnold Steinhardt (later first violinist of the Guarneri Quartet) and cellist Robert Newkirk (later principal cellist of the Kennedy Center Opera Orchestra), Saslav was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to Vienna, Austria, where she attended the Akademie fuer Musik und darstellende Kunst. 

Her teachers have included Menahem Pressler, Isabella Vengerova, Miecyslaw Horszowski, Grete Hinterhofer, and Silvio Scionti.  Her honors include the “Baltimore’s Best” Silver and Blue Award; Headliner of the Year by the Texas Professional Journalists, Inc.; Cultural Ambassador of the City of Baltimore; Good Will Ambassador of the City of Overton, Texas; Commendation from the American Ambassador to New Zealand; First Prize in the Houston Symphony Orchestra’s Young Soloist Competition; the Performer’s Certificate from the School of Music of Indiana University; and the Peggy and Yale Gordon Trust award for Excellence in Chamber Music Education. 

In addition to a myriad of solo, chamber, and youth concerts throughout Texas and other parts of the United States and internationally, Ms. Saslav has appeared as soloist with the Baltimore, Houston, Akron, San Antonio, Longview, Marshall,  East Texas, and Northwest Louisiana Symphonies, as well as with the Orchestra of the Pines, the Round Top Festival in Texas, the Chamber Soloists of Philadelphia, the Orchestra of the American String Teachers in Gmunden, Austria, and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra.
